YPI - 2017 The Royal High School

This year’s Youth Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) final took place on Monday 20th November 2017.

This was the first year that our S3’s were involved in YPI after the decision was made to give one of the younger year groups the opportunity to get involved with this fantastic initiative. There were eight groups who made it through to the final this year, each one representing a local charity and vying for the £3000 prize.

All the groups gave outstanding presentations in what turned out to be an emotional, inspirational and thrilling final. The four person-judging panel, which included local MSP Alex Cole Hamilton were left with a tough decision to make however the group representing the Simpsons Special care baby unit eventually came out on top. The judges awarded second place in the competition to the group representing the Scottish Huntington disease Association and third place was awarded to the group representing Brain Tumour Action.

A huge congratulation to all our finalist this year also well done to all the S3 pupils who took part in the Youth Philanthropy Initiative this year during PSE.
