Vital improvements to family facilities
SSCB needs your help in raising £300k

We are delighted to announce that approval has been granted for the upgrade of family facilities within the unit.

This will include the refurbishment of the parent/family waiting area, provision of tea and coffee making facilities as well as the upgrade of the parent rooms which are made available to parents of the sickest babies, allowing them to stay overnight and be close to their baby.

We understand the stress and anxiety that having a baby who requires neonatal care places on families and parental well being is equally important to the care that each baby receives in the unit.

As such, we have committed to raising £300,000 to support NHS funding for the refurbishment of the family facilities.

We therefore need your support! Please donate now via our Family Facilities Donate page to help.

World Prematurity Awareness Month and World Prematurity Day
Sunday 17th November 2024

You may be aware that November is World Prematurity Awareness month which shines a spotlight on the special issues facing babies that are born prematurely, whilst celebrating the increasing number of babies who survive and go on to live fulfilling and active lives despite their challenging start in life.
It's a time of reflection for family, friends and colleagues who have been or know someone who has given birth or sadly lost a premature baby, and to acknowledge and say thanks to all staff involved in neonatal care.

We all have our own special story and if you would like to share yours please do get in touch and we will look to post as many of these as possible on the 17th November to mark World Prematurity Awareness Day. Photos to support your story are particularly welcomed as long as you are comfortable for them to be included on the website.

Share your pictures or special memory on social media and tag @sscbcharity, using #PrematurityAwarenessMonth #1in10babies.

Sing a Song for Simpsons
We’ll really miss our annual Teddy Bears’ Picnic this year. It's usually a chance for us to get together with our supporters, sing songs, have fun and raise money for the neonatal unit. But because that's not possible, we’re asking your children to help us create a musical adventure from home instead!

Like all small charities in the UK, we've been hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. We would love it if your family would Sing a Song for Simpsons to share joy at this tough time and help raise much needed funds for the neonatal unit.
