Crochet baby hat patterns
Our hats can be simple beanie style or you can add a brim with a heart motif.
Sets of a jacket and a matching hat will be most welcome.

Making your crochet beanie hat with brim

Materials
• 50g Double knitting yarn
• 3.5mm crochet hook (or size required to achieve correct tension)
• Yarn needle
• Scissors
Stitches & Abbreviations - UK crochet terms
ch - chain
slst - slip stitch
dc - double crochet
htr - half treble

tr - treble
scdec3 - single crochet next 3st together to form decrease
RS - right side of work
WS 
- wrong side of work
st - stitch
Note: Ch2 does not count as the first stitch. You will be working the first tr into the base of the ch2 at the beginning of each round.

Size
To fit 3-6 months
Crown 5”/13cm across
Circumference (once crown increases are completed) 14-15”/35-38cm
Note: *** Check circumference at this stage by running a tape measure around the edge of work. If it measures less than 14”, increase hook size to work hat body; if it measures more, reduce hook size.
Finished Height 5.5”/14cm

Method
Crown
Round 1: starting with a magic ring, ch2, 12tr into ring. Slst into first tr to join (12st)
Round 2: ch2, 2tr into each st around. Slst into first tr to join (24 st)
Round 3: ch2, *1tr in first st, 2tr in next st. Continue around from *. Slst into first tr to join (36st)
Round 4: ch2, *1tr in next 2 st, 2tr in next st. Continue around from *. Slst into first tr to join (48st)
Round 5: ch2, *1tr in next 3 st, 2tr in next st. Continue around from *. Slst into first tr to join (60st)
Check your measurements at this stage and adjust accordingly (see***)

Hat Body
Round 6: ch2, 1tr into each st around. Join with slst into first tr (60st)
Continue in rounds until the hat measures 1/2” less than the finished height (60st).

Hat Brim
Round 1 (inc row): ch2, working into the front loops, 1trc into next 4 st, 2tr into next st. Repeat around, join with slst into first tr (72st)

Note: the increases for the brim follow on from the number of increases in the final round for the crown eg 60 to 72, 72 to 84 etc. Round 2 (inc row): 1tr into next 5 st, 2tr in next st. Repeat around, join with slst into first tr (84st)
Round 3: 1 tr into each st around, join with slst into first tr (84st). Fasten off and weave in ends.

Picot stitch (pink hat)
Crab stitch/Reverse sc (white hat with pink edging)
Make a Heart Small
Into a magic ring work 2ch, 3hdc, 3sc, 1hdc, 3sc, 3hdc, 2ch. Join with ss into loop. Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
Medium
Into a magic ring work 3ch, 3tr, 3hdc, 1tr, 3hdc, 3tr, 3ch. Join with ss into loop. Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
Large
Into a magic ring work 4ch, 3dtr, 3tr, 1dtr, 3tr, 3dtr, 4ch. Join with ss into loop. Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
Extra Large
Work as for large heart. Don't fasten off
Second Row: Ch1, work 1sc into back loop of each st around. Join with ss into first ch. Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
