Hobbycraft with Elaine

Saturday 25th March, 10am to 3pm

If you buy yarn there, we will give you a free printed pattern for Simpson the Snowman.

–––

Why a knitted snowman?

In the first 3 months of life, babies have underdeveloped optic nerves and see the world in black, white and shades of grey.

Simpson with its black mouth, eyes and buttons will be attractive to young babies. It has a purple scarf and hat which is the colour of the SSCB charity and also of World Prematurity Day.

Encourage young people to learn to knit, starting with his scarf and then they can help you stuff and dress it after watching the video. It can be knitted in 3 sizes and there is also a challenge for the experienced knitter to make an even larger snowman for display.

Knitting & sewing for charity

It is very exciting for us as a charity to announce a new knitting initiative which will be of benefit to the babies and parents in neonatal care.

We have a range of free knitting patterns designed especially for us which will be offered to parents on discharge from the ward and also used in our fundraising campaigns and events.

Whether you are a beginner knitter, intermediate or experienced we welcome any volunteer knitters.
