Specsavers bake sale & knit-athon

On Thursday 6 th June 2019, staff at Specsavers in Morningside, Edinburgh, held a Charity

Bake Sale in aid of Simpsons Special Care Babies.

The event came about as a Thank You for the care received by Sophie O’Kane, daughter of Specsavers’ Morningside co-owner/manager Michael O’Kane. Sophie, who has just celebrated her 5th birthday, spent 97 days in the Simpson Neonatal unit after her birth, 3 ½ months early, in 2014.

Michael has also organised a ‘Sophie’s Knit-athon’ event, where Specsavers’ customers can make knitted garments and blankets to be donated to the Neonatal Unit.

Michael has set up a fundraising page on JustGiving, where you can also read more about his campaign: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/michael-o-kane3

They have raised £885.33 (including gift aid) so far. Thank you, Specsavers!
